Questions about AI report writing

What Report Metric does with your site notes and photos, what it won't do, and where a person stays in charge.

Getting started

What is Report Metric?

AI Metric's reporting engine for construction and property firms. Your site notes, walk-round recordings and photos go in; your firm's own snagging or condition report comes out, with the source behind every item shown. A person checks every item and signs off before anything is issued.

Who makes it?

AI Metric Ltd, a UK construction AI consultancy. It was founded by Chris M, who has more than twenty years in Tier 1 construction delivery.

Which reports can it write?

Snagging reports and building condition reports as standard. Another report your firm writes can be built to your format as a bespoke report type, £950 one-off.

How much does it cost?

A basic PDF report with a Report Metric watermark is free. A bespoke build for your firm starts at £2,950, each extra report type is £950 one-off, and maintenance starts at £195 a month. Hosting and AI usage are paid at cost. See pricing.

How do I get access?

Report Metric is in early access. AI Metric sets up each firm's workspace with its report types, wording and branding. Email chris@ai-metric.com or book a 30 minute call.

Do we have to share real reports to try it?

No. Set-up and samples use made-up data. AI Metric never uses a client's real reports, photos or recordings without a signed agreement.

Your notes and photos

Can AI write a report from my site notes?

Yes. Typed notes or a walk-round transcript, plus photos, are enough for a first draft in your format. You then check it against the same notes.

Can it work from a recording of my walk-round?

Yes. Record it in Note Metric on your iPhone and add the transcript. Report Metric doesn't transcribe audio itself.

Can it read handwritten notes?

Not as notes. Report Metric works from typed notes and transcripts. A photo of a handwritten page is treated as a photo, so type up or record anything that matters.

How many photos can I add?

Up to 20 per report, 5 MB each. JPG and PNG photos are read by the draft; export iPhone HEIC photos as JPG first.

Are my original notes and photos changed?

No. They are kept exactly as you added them.

What if a note contains an instruction?

It is treated as evidence about the site, never as an instruction to the AI.

Accuracy and checking

Can AI save me time writing reports?

It takes the typing and the layout off you: the draft arrives in your format with its sources attached, so your time goes on checking and judgement. How much that saves depends on your reports, so we don't quote a figure.

How accurate is it?

We don't claim an accuracy percentage. The draft is a starting point you check against the evidence: every item shows its source, the software checks every quote against your notes, and real doubts are flagged.

Will it make things up?

It is told to use only what your notes and photos show and to cite a source for every item. A quote the software can't find in your notes is flagged, and a summary count that doesn't match the report holds sign-off until it is fixed or cleared.

What does a flagged item mean?

Something to check before relying on it: a vague line, an unclear photo, or a location, element or extent the draft had to infer. A field your notes simply don't cover says "Not stated" and is not flagged.

Who is responsible for the report?

The person who signs it off. The software never issues a report.

Your firm's format

Will it use our wording and branding?

Yes. Company name, logo and colours, report titles, severity labels, trade and element lists, rating meanings and sign-off wording are all settings for your firm.

Can it fill our existing Word template?

Not in the first version. Reports export to Word and PDF laid out by Report Metric in your branding. If your own template matters, say so when you ask for access.

Does it write the costs?

No. In a condition report you enter every cost, and the software adds up the totals by element and timescale.

Sign-off and records

What is recorded?

The draft (model, tokens and time), every edit with its old and new value, each review, the sign-off, any unlock and every export.

Can a signed report be changed?

Sign-off locks it. It can be unlocked, and who unlocked it and when is recorded.

What if a draft is exported before sign-off?

Every page says DRAFT, in Word and in the print copy.

Try it on the reports you write
